Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better popularly known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer hailing from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016, she released Pho Her debut EP under the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she was first recognized. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music via the internet in 2012, as she launched her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the web including her self released single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. Later that year her music was circulating around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. It was announced on December 8th, that she'd joined Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she performed with Cozz to record the Revenge of the Dreamers II album that they co-produced. In October of 2016 she debuted her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The singer also performed on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas, her labelmates. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, on November 13, she released two additional singles titled the No One as well as Pdigree. She then appeared to the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. It was released with a music video on February 20, 2019, which it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in just a week. In December 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
